Joining Mpeg-1's

I do a good amount of my work in the legal community. From time to time I have to join 2 Mpeg-1 together. My storm 2 setup allows for mpeg splitting easily but I don't see a resource for joining with-out re-encoding.

I put the files on the timeline but it It is looking to re-encode to one new file.

How can I join these files without re-encoding?

The nature of EDIUS (and ProCoder for that matter) is that it will always* need to re-encode a new MPEG stream from what it sees on the timeline.

To do what you're wanting, you're best off looking for simpler applications designed for MPEG stitching.


* The exception is with 1080i material in v4.5 of EDIUS - you can in some instances use "Segment Encoding" to avoid reencoding 'cuts only' MPEG-2 data.

I'm not shure but there may have been some MPEG tools in the DVStorm2 package. I don't have access to the disks now but maybe you can look at yours.

This is true - MPEGcraft LE was once upon a time shipped with DVStorm2 (DVStorm2 Pro I think).

I downloaded a utility and stitched it together. It just seemed odd that my storm software includes multiple tools to break apart an Mpeg but nothing to put them back together. I'll check for MPEGcraft in my software package.
