  • 5.1 will not read PCM audio file

Have been asked to provide a copy of a short musical sequence (originally edited on 5.01 and supplied on DVD) in another format. On loading the original the clean music track that was provided in wav format was declared offline and could not be restored - message: Failed to restore clips the chosen file did not match the original file info.
As a quick test I tried creating a new project and from it opening the audio file. Message: Cannot read file.
The file plays fine in media player.
Nothing has been changed. Any one else experienced this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Did you copy the audio file onto your PC and saved it?...that is the most common thing that a lot of people forget, and then run into this problem......copy the file first, and edit using the copied file, not the file on the CD....maybe you did that by mistake....happens to the best of us....we are only but mortals.

I copied it on to the hard disk and it's sitting there still. Made the program up some weeks ago under 5.01 and all was well, a lot of copies went out.
Now under 5.1 Edius doesn't like the file but the 5.1 upgrade may just be a coincidence.
Tried another wav file used on an Avid project months ago and that's fine.
The problem is that the original disc supplied was returned so will need to get it back from the customer and do a new transfer, then a re-sync.

A short cut.....If you have the file and it is working ok in windows media, try applyig it to Edius again and if it works, then all you have to do is copy and replace it, ...or, if you have ProCoder, open it as stand-alone and convert it into a file that will work in Edius, and do a replace, or add it to the audio track, and resync it.....then again, if you made copies, look for the TS files, and do a burn in Nero or whichever program you use...as long as there is not a re-edit, just use the files...that is if you saved them.......I dont have Edius open right now, but there are 2 folders that the files are saved in after burning from the timeline....one is DVD temp, and I cant remember the other one, ...there will be a m2p file in one, and TS files in the other....just use the one with the TS files and do your burns from that, and if there is a re edit, place the m2p file on the timeline, and the job is done...

          works 4 me..

Thanks everyone I transcoded the file to AC3 and it went in perfectly.
Would still be interested to know if anybody else has had this problem after upgrading to 5.1.
