  • why is there no up to date training for Edius 5

I would think one of you professionals could make money offering a subscription type of online training for Edius 5. As far as I know the only training DVD is from Class on Demand for 4.5, or is that not true?

I use Edius as a sales tool for my business. It would be great to have a DVD or online source to refer to and learn how to do things in a logical manner.

There are so many little things that make such a difference in quality and time savings. The little not obvious steps to take. I am sure I am not the only person that uses Edius that is not a professional editor but uses Edius 5 and video as a sales tool that would pay a good price to avoid all the trial and error that we go through now.

Maybe a group of you could get together and each tackle a particular area and consolidate it online.

I would even be willing to help fund the start up.

Think about it, it could work.
Edius 8 Workgroup, Intel 3770K, Asus P8Z77-V Motherboard, 32GB DDR3 1600 ram, SSD for C, external Raid box with WE RE4 1TB drives Raid 0 for video assets. Overclocked 4.3ghz, Asus GTX 660 ti, water cooled system. Windows 10 Professional 64bit

Any time frame? The lack of available training is probably Edius's biggest deal breaker. Is what you refer to something from Grass Valley or third party?

Oh. please! Do not ask those questions, GV don't like them.
Long time ago on this forum one ov GV reps asked what would we like to see in Edius 4.5 training, I remember I was happily made a list of what I want to see there and... we have maybe 10% of those 4.5 training covered, on all my questions "why", never received more or less reasonable answer.
Do not ask questions! Just repeat after me:
"We are happy, happy, happy! Thanks for everything! Edius has no bugs and we provided with best AND FRIENDLY support! GV happyly explains to us the future of our beloved software so we are well aware of the features we are expecting to see in it. We are happy, happy, happy!"

Can't say anything else at the moment, but Mike is so far off base it isn't funny.

            Thanks Pat
We've all been patiently waiting, but so far we only get teasers... We know something's happening, but an anticipated release date could help.
I recall this post in January, where you mentioned: "We've got something in the works... "

Still looking forward to some V5 training...

It's tricky now that we're GV (it's been 3 years already) because GV has a paid-for training division, so it's an interesting push-pull, especially since EDIUS spans across both prosumer/professional and broadcast (where the paid training comes into play) boundaries now.

              Is EDIUS training going on?
Yes, in-person training is going on, and is often paid for by large corporate facilities.
As for free training, I really can't comment, as I'm not close enough to the information to really know.

I am not asking specifically Grass Valley to provide this resource. And typically free training resources are not very comprehensive.

Well in that case, anybody's free to do it... Probably more a matter of time as most EDIUS users have projects to use it on!

I'd score a training book if one was available.
Something that catalogues all the tips/efficiencies, etc., would super coolio.

The problem with books more so (and videos) is that as soon as they are published they are superseeded. No money in that.

That is why I thought an online solution would be best. Easily updated and delivered worldwide. Charge enough money for a subscription to make it worthwhile for the content provider. Put it out there and see how many people put their money where their mouth is! I would be the first to pay for a subcription in advance of publishing to the web to show good faith. If not enough people signed up in advance then scrap the idea and refund the prepaid subscriptions. It is my belief that whoever does it should make money.

I am not sure that we understand each other... Nobody is asking about making changes- it was already there!!! Edius3- Free and perfect training by mike. Edius 4- well, free, not so good, but still full. Now- welcome to GV and version 4.5- nice beginning training but... never finished. Now we have version 5.x... Nothing at all. Can you draw a line of training ver3 till 5?
So IT WAS POSSIBLE before? It was FREE before? What is happening today? Is it possible to hire two contractors who can do it nicely? Or maybe, ask Mike?
One more FREE idea- look at another companies, they provide a training disk in a package wit the product! And you know what- iy is nice! I have Adobe and Apple software and I like the training. I also believe, yhey benefit from it.
Dear GV! I am not the bad guy and I like your (and Canopus) product, it is not perfect, but it is close... I wish you will understand that your customers- are your familym you should be more open to them. And more listen. It helps.

It WAS possible before. While things were still separate and the businesses were not fully integrated. Now that the desktop products are fully integrated, business decisions must be made first and foremost.

It's not about listening or not listening - it's about finding balance for different markets and business models. I think this topic has run its course.
