  • Using layout (F7) but no way to memorize...

    Hello there,

    Using Edius 5.11

3dpip is slower then before (4.6) but a progress with the Plug-in.

The layout (F7) is faster and brings zoom quality especially for high resolution picture..... but not so sympathic to use then 3Dpip.

After having create all keypoints and movements I memorize (diskete draw) in a specific file.

Applying this file on another picture do not give interesting result (only 1 set off keypoints, and the picture is cropped on all sizes up to 50 %....so it desapear)

Here is the way I have found... but advices of experts are welcome :

    1) Copy the clip (A) existing with the desire movements (F7)
    2) Paste the clip (A) on the desired new place
    2) Copy the new clip (B) on wich I want the same movements
    3) Shift+R (replace the clip) (A) becomes (B) with the movement

This was not possible with 4.6 (layout was lost)

    Any comments ?

Just Ctrl + C the origital clip with movement to copy and then right mouse click on the new clip and choose Replace Parts/Filters.
I short cut keyboard P for replace parts/filters, very quick this way.
    Works fine for me.

this is much easier in Edius 5.1

simply drag layout from one clip to another or many others

        Anton,

Still and always the magic man.

Your solution is so simple... and efficient...

        Problems solved in one click.

No what about the cropping when applying a memorized position in the panel of the layout ?

Sorry for the late answer Anton, I was very busy yesterday.

            Here is what I mean

(Of course your solution to apply a layout from one clip to another is certainly the best and the quickest when staying in the same prpject).

To be able to use some layouts configurations in many project, I use to memorize this layouts configurations. In this case under name : "Test-01"

To make it simple here I just zoom in the picture up to 100 % and did not change anything else

... and a using another image in another project I open the layout and apply the Test-01

... and see what appends here

The zoom 100 % has change to 83.3 % despite that the new picture has the same resolution.... and on the left... cropping is at level 50 % on each side.... so the image is cropped and invisble

            Surprising isn't it ?

I hope to understood your problem correct.....
Is this a solution for you??

Layout is now in 5.xx a "Effect"

therefore it shows up in the "Informations-Palette" from the activated clip

therefore you can save it as "Customer Effect", on the same way as other effects,
with new name, and you can fill out the " comment column" from this "Customer Effect"
and for fun, if you go with the mouse to the thumbnail from this effekt, it shows up animated with the new Keyframes

this "Customer Effect" (maybe in a seperate folder ) is behind save, aviable in the effect palette, and it is aviable in all your projects.
this "Customer Effect" is to handle with all the different ways as all the other "effects"

please, excuse my "gibberish" english, it is not me native language.... friendly greetings from Centraleurope

This indeed is a very good info.

Thank you very much to have highlited these ways to use the layout.

Now I would like to understand what appends when saving a layout in the memorise box.... and apply it in another picture with a cropping changing... just to understand

if you drag layout that includes crop to another clip, the crop will appear on the other clip

you can then hit shortcut for layout and change the amount of crop if you wish and it will only apply to the current clip, it will not affect the one you dragged from

Thanks Anton,.... but the problem is not there. (sorry if I was not clear enough)

The problem is when you apply a memorized file => see blue box here :

... then cropping is suddenly appearing....at maximum level of 50 % on each side... cropping that was NOT encoded in the genuine file.

I just tested like you and there is no crop applied when loading the custom saved preset

I am not sure why this is happening in Belgium

maybe I overlooked an important step you did?

can you explain again every step from creating the preset to applying it
