In all cases, PSD is a proprietary format. Adobe wouldn't let a 3rd party mess with their structure, unless they were really close with them.
either that or adobe is on the verge of buying them out, doing the bear minimum to get software "integrated" with all of its proprietary formats and then packaging it in a new CS release.

    NO,
What I said was that it updated the file that you were using
Within Edius, only if you saved those changes to the same file that is being used in Edius. That would not necessarily be the original
    File.

That's how it is supposed to work. EDIUS updates if the original is updated. It is most usefull that it works this way.
Works the same on BWF when you need to do some tweaking in an audio app when you save to the original it is properly updated to reflect the the changes.
I don't know why any one would think it is a bug because when your editing you only would update the original when you need those changes to be reflected.

    Maybe you're not well informed......

I usually load the .psd file and leave photoshop open.
If I correct the final output and save to the same location
That the edius file is at, it updates the file contained on the
    Edius timeline.
This is about as close as you are going to get at this time.
All corrections are still done in photoshop, and yes, it will be
Hit or miss on the layers. I also take a still shot of the time
And load that into photoshop. Most of my corrections are
Accomplished in photoshop and tweaked by viewing through
    The monitor.

Other than the Alpha Channel, Edius will not read PS layers.
