computer wont shut down

running stormcard w/3.6 no new programs loaded, nothing changed in a long time but for some reason lately wont shut down, will say shutting down forever, i eventually have to manually turn off. not connected to internet ever

Shutdown problems can be caused by a multitude of different things, from a corrupted registry, corrupted device drivers, hardware problems, I've a couple of clients that had bad power supplies that wouldn't shut down.
Try doing a web search for "windows shutdown problems" to get ideas to troubleshoot with

I would check the Event Viewer (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools) to see if there is anything odd in the System Event Log.
