  • Problem in HDV capturing

    Hello again
We have a HDV Camera (JVC 100E). We shoot both in DV & HDV format. Recently I m facing problem in capturing HDV. We use JVC VTR (BR-HD50) and it is one & 2 months old.. I don’t know why the problem is happening? It gets video noise & pixel drop like when capturing HDV but in DV it is quite fine.
Is it the problem of VTR or cable?
My pc is of duel core processor, raid hard disk , 2gb ram. I Edit in Edius v 4.
Help me, I m in deep trouble.

Can you explain "video noise" more clearly? Do you see "blockiness"? What kind of DV tapes are you using? When you play back the HDV tape to a regular monitor (downconverted??) does it still have the dropouts or is it only during capturing?

Are you capturing to MPEG2TS or Canopus HQ through Edius?

I have seen a similar problem (drops and noise) when capturing HDV with Edius 4 and a Sony VAIO...Vegas was capturing just fine...
I never managed to solved it though... :-(

I have been capturing DV for years O.K., but when I tried capturing HDV on a Core 2 6600, I was getting tearing and pixellization after a few seconds.

Finally I figured out that if I use MPEG capture OUTSIDE of Edius it works fine, whereas using MPEG Capture WITHIN edius gives me above problems even with identical settings.

          Go figure!!

          Might be worth a try.

          Cheers Vaughan

            Sorry for the late response.
I use both HDV & DV tape.At the begining this problem ( a line drop/ pixel drop/screch like) was negligible but recently is has been horroble.
It is not the same for all tape but it is happening less or more.
            hmm... what to do?

              Oh
I'vent go for mpeg captur & vegus.
I'll go for MPEG captur in Edius to see the result & if possible in vegus.

I have run into the same problem, do you have any Canopus Hardware in your PC?

If so read my post: HDV Capture Issues.
