Any thing I should know about HDV editing and Edius 5?

    You can edit the mpeg files natively. And capture via firewire.
    There's said to be some minor advantages to converting to Canopus HQ in some scenarios: if you're doing a lot of manipulation of the footage (colour correction; lots of effects), the codec can handle the re-compression a little better. And you can get a little better performance using canopus HQ (slightly more real-time capability) since it uses less cpu processing.
    I don't think there's a lot in it. I was just surprised to find the I could convert to canopus HQ on a reasonably modern lenovo laptop "on the fly". I thought this would be something I'd need the HDStorm hardware for.
