Mastering Limiter

I want treat my audio with a vst-plugin and want for this " Mastering Limiter" to use. After I have selected these plugin these are also active. What, however, is notable me " a lock" on the audio beam. As soon as I, after storing the audio correction, nothing has been corrected and is the lock is gone. Gladly some recommendation. You only see the lock when mousing over the clip on the timeline. That is logical because you make vst adjustments in the pallet of the plugin.
Don't forget to press ok when done adjusting other wise the settings will not stick.
