  • workaround to get elementary streams?

Rusty posted a workaround to get elementary mpeg streams out of Edius 5 exporter. I tried it but still I get file with extension .mpg and if I rename it m2v it is not accepted as a valid file. I went over it many times and I am not sure how to get an elementary stream. Am I missing something?

I checked to see if I got any answers to my question. 53 reads no answers. I think my question or at least how I worded it should get the dumbest post award. When I re-read my post I wondered why no one replied that I am an idiot for posting such absolutely illogical question...sometimes you are all too polite...

Do you refer to the 5.1 release? That won't be before May is what I read. I need elementary streams now. I am not sure what part of the exporter I am not choosing correctly. I untick the export audio and I get just video. The file extension is .mpg My authoring software needs .m2v extension. I also tried TXmuxer to demux the program stream but my authoring software muxing program reports that I have to high of a bandwidth. I encoded at 6000 vbr. I am not sure what to do. I have Edius 4.61 on another machine so I used Procoder Express to create the elementary streams I need but it is slow.

sorry, I never tried this workaround, I am a Tmpeg 4 Xpress user which uses all cores full bore and is the fastest encoder I have

I use TXmuxer to demux AVC and it works fine with Encore, never try MPEG2 but I don't see why it won't work, what authoring software are you using? What is your maximum bitrate? try to keep it at 9000 for max.

If you have DVD Lab Pro you can just import your MPEG Program stream file and it will automatically demux it into m2v and AC3 elementary streams straight after import into the "bin".

Also if the video file is too big it has a Quick re-encoder that will recode a 2 hour video in approx 5 - 6 minutes at 90% or 80% size, whatever you set it to, and I am amazed at the quality of the re-encode.
The icon for this is "reduce MPEG size" on the top right of the bin icons.

Once your file is demuxed you can either use the elementary streams in DVDlabPro or in another authoring system.

I find it the quickest way to demux and correct encoding sizes.

              Cheers, Vaughan

There's several freeware programs that will demux into elementary streams. Two I know off hand are ProjectX and also MPEG Streamclip.

Check over at the Afterdawn website and also Doom9 for some information on these and others.

Anton, I hope your "teaser" is correct. (and more besides)
