yes my sony hdr-hc9 shoot in full HD 1920x1080.
Edius captures this, but I can only write back 1440x1080.
So it's not possible to go back in full HD ?

HDV is 1440x1080. The spec I have on the HDR-HC9 says it is 1440x1080 HDV just like my FX1 and all other HDV cameras. HDV is anamorphic ( pixels are rectangular) and is equivalent to 1920x1080 square pixels. The output from the HDMI on the HC9 will be 1920x1080 but on tape it will be anamorphic 1440x1080.

hmmmmm.... as tape based file format?? ... or as output for a monitor??
HDV with 1440x1080 is the highest tape based format, that I know....

I just have a problem writing back to tape.
Is it possible to write 1920x1080 back to tape or is the highest quality level to write back is 1440x1080 ?

Thank you for the advice. I checked HDV output and it was set on auto, so I changed it to HDV.
However, that did not seem to be the problem.
I checked the m2t clip and discovered 1 faulty frame. THAT CAUSED THE HALT!
Next I went back to the export to file settings and changed standard to highest quality.. After that the clip was flawless and smoothly copied to tape.
Anyone there with the same experience?

Is your HVRZ7 set to HDV VCR? (not Auto)

Dear Edius Freaks,

Principle of editing in HDV and exporting back to tape works fine with my Sony HVRZ7. However, there is one serious problem.
Copying to tape seems to go smoothly. However, when I playback from tape the films falters for a few seconds every 4 or 5 minutes.
My PC system is more than fast enough. I am not working on any other programmes during writing to tape.
Has anyone got a clue?
