    Anton,

    Thanks for the ideas.

I only normally view my HDTV production monitors when editing (preview window in Edius is set to be a postage stamp) but I just made the preview big and it shows there too.

I can't remember where the pause setting lives. I see something called Update Period... It's set to Frame in all locations.

    Thanks again.
    Sincerely,

    Mike Truly

no "gibberish" words ==> only pictures....

and yes, time for manual rant ==> it is not aviable in the manual,
search result's for >Pause< no one result with cause to >Pause Field<

you wish a picture ==> call CentralEurope

        Anton,

Thanks for that. It also drives me bonko that settings are all over the place and I can't quickly find what I'm looking for in the manual.

I checked and the 'Pause Field' is set to 'Frame'.

These HQ clips are created from animation frames (not field rendered) with no motion blur. I don't ever change this setting and even with it set to 'Frame', the same clip will display in two different ways on the same timeline... one showing double-vision and the other not.

What's also strange is that Edius will show the properties of these HQ clips (which are always created the same way... as 29.97fps) sometimes as 29.97fps and sometimes as 30fps. But changing the ones that show as 30fps to 29.97fps does not fix the double-vision problem.

        Thanks again.
        Sincerely,

        Mike Truly

what program is used to create the animation and export to HQ?

can you try exporting the animation as a targa sequence?

            Anton,

Thanks for the ideas. I will try a direct frame import into Edius.

The frames are rendered into an HQ within Autodesk Combustion (a compositing app). The resulting HQs playback with no double-vision when viewed with Media Player, Media Player Classic, or from the bin in Edius or when dropped on the Edius timeline alone. The double-vision problem seems to start when the timeline gets more complicated than a single clip. Again, sometimes I am able to fix the double-vision problem (by replacing the clip with some other clip, then replacing again with the original) and sometimes this fix doesn't work.

            I will test.

            Thanks again.
            Sincerely,

            Mike Truly

Mike can you trie exporting an uncompressed file out of combustion.
Which version of combustion is it?
