  • EDIUS 5 used for U.S. Army production

Tale a look at the clip done at a U.S. Army Garrison Schinnen, the Netherlands.

The clip was made using EDIUS 5 and will be broadcast on AFN (Armed Forces Network) Europe. Script to screen in under two days. It's not the typical stiff "corporate" video but that was the intent.

    Any comments welcome!

Using EDIUS 5 and Procoder 3 what be the best process to go from DVCAM PAL to web? Assuming broadband and needing highest quality.

Output to web? What's the format? Windows Media, Quicktime, DVX, etc, etc. Streaming or non-streaming?

Not able to download or view on my side, maybe a slow DSL issue ?

Nope - I can't download either ... must be some Firewire configuration blocking / preventing the server from sending data out. Maybe the site checks for URL - and only allows folks from US/Europe in?

So - confirms my suspicions :-).

The firewall / webserver validates IP addresses and only allows those addresses in EU to get in ... apparently, UK is not part of continental Europe ... so, it is treated as an outcast :-) (just like us).

                  Okay, that's not good...

Try this link on AFN http://benelux.afneurope.net/
There shoild be a clip with Year of the NCO and my name John Glantz.
There are 6 small blue squares to the bottom right of the video, they turn yellow to indicate which one is active. The first one is pause and the second one should be the clip in question.

What ever format is best for DSL/Cable and most popular for streaming and non streaming.

                      Well done John.
The first link downloads the first frame to Firefox and Right-click saves as expected.
The second plays in the player ok. The data rate could be lower for smoother playback on DSL here. It looks and sounds great in the player window.

Rusty, Thank you for your kind comments. Actually, I did not have say so of the particular file uploaded on the site. I sent various files and bit rates as the station did not specify what they needed other than QT best quality NTSC. Thank you for the tip on data rate.

I have seen it done with Quicktime. By far, the most popular will be Flash.

Thank you for the tip! I will experiment with Flash for future projects.

Encode to mp4/h.264 - the Flash Player will play it.

Better quality at the same bitrate compared to Flash.
