Hmmmmmm....I'm thinking that its my HDMI cable that could be the problem with progressive output...is that possible? I know my monitors (Dell s2409w and Benq E2200HD) both support 1920x1080 25p (and many more progressive signals)....

Maybe you should try it. Do you know what HDMI version your cable is?Steve

As I have answered in a previous post I use a 1.3 cable. Higher ones are backwards compatible.
But maybe you should get a 1.1 cable for testing (if you still can find one)Steve

Hi Mattmatt,
HDMI cables are all about bandwidth, better build quality higher bandwidth, simple as that.
Some reading: http://www.monstercable.com/HDMI/pdf...HDMIVenuti.pdf
As the HDspark or HDstorm is spec 1.1 you can draw you own conclusions ..............
p.s. any HDMI cable that comes with a LCD computer display is still ver 1.1Last edited by SoundFreak; 03-20-2009, 04:41 AM.Comment

Thanks Tony. I got my cable cheap a long time ago (like 2 years ago) so I'm guessing its the right spec, but poor qual (even though it LOOKS awesome).
On ebay now looking for 1.1....no such luck.....hmmm. Would you suggest simply buying an expensive one? When I go out, I wear my EDIUS T-Shirt.Comment

And if you're going through any HDMI-DVI conversion, it's best to get a cable with the right ends, versus getting an adapter. The adapters have a tendency to be problematic. I even had one have its HDMI plug come off the board, probably due to stress. :(Comment

I have yet to experience any problem (audio or video) when using a high grade cable connection when not needed.
As stated before in this thread, HDMI is HDMI so a higher grade cable (ver 1.3) should / will not / can not pose any issues when used for lower bandwidth use (ver 1.1)Comment

Adapters are mainly used for computer monitors i.e. DVI to HDMI connection.
Most cables supplied with PC Monitors are HDMI to HDMI, therefore needing a conversion adapter, which can introduce problems now and then.
It is often better to avoid adapters and use a DVI to HDMI cable, which obviously is more expensive than an adaptor, but in the case for HDspark, Storm or Thunder there is no need for an adaptor as they are HDMI out and LCD TV's are generally HDMI in and not DVI.Comment
