  • Is there a Timeline Yet for adding 24p output to HDStorm Firmware?

As it says in the topic, is there a timeline yet for the firmware update to add 24p (23.98p) output to the HDStorm board.

It was confirmed in another thread that the HDStorm has the hardware capability, but the firmware is not yet ready?

At a recent show Black Magic confirmed that their boards also have the capability, but it is not yet implemented yet. However, the BM rep (who apparently used to work for Canopus) suggested that BM might have 24p implemented by NAB.

Is there anything scheduled for implementation in HDStorm.

(It seems that at the moment anyone wanting to work in 24p has to go with an AJA product.)

Specifically, what in terms of 24p is missing...?

1280x720/24p? 1080/24p already exists as far as I am aware..

And I just packed up the machine. I could have taken a screenshot.

I have listed in another thread today, which progressive presets are featured with the HQX-E1 hardward output device (aka HDSTORM).

****mattmatt is happily wrong, HD STORM does in fact output Progressive projects****

          Hi KH,

Thanks for the reply, yes I'm aware that they are "available" to chose. But have you (or anyone in the world) seen personally with your own eyes a progressive output on screen, from the HD Storm card? Not to include the HD Spark, because I know that that works.

            Yes I have.
I have my HDSTORM connected to my 1080p LCD and I see full screen 1920x1080 p displayed.
My Tv displays correct frame size and frame rate on its overlay. (information about the source)

SO I guess there is something wrong at your end.

My monitor even supports 1980X1080p 23.98 at 24hz and that displays

Here is a picture of my LCD detecting the correct Project info for 24. (23.98 @ 24hz)

Picture is a bit off but the overlay disappears fast.
So I guess you should look at what is wrong at your end. HDSTORM supports the outputs that KH posted. Case closed and Matt you are proven wrong just like you asked :)

What your monitor does not supports over HDMI will be muted
Example: I can't display sd over HDMI as my monitor does not support it. But the monitor supports sd over Component so when I switch my project setting to the nx and my monitor to component I see sd.

SR!!!! Thanks for going to the effort of creating that beautiful "proof". This is exactly what I've been looking for, and have been asking around for months but no one could show me. I will edit my other posts.

p.s. Which monitor are you using? ***EDIT*** Why don't I just check your sig? 20" Acer, nice :)

NO NO I use the acers only to display from the computer GPU.
As you see in the 24 picture I use a Samsung connected to my HDSTORM. 37 inch/94 cm

                  SAMSUNG 1080p
I will post the correct model number later. Looking for the manual.

Yes great blacks, when turning all that auto/enhancing stuff off. Sd looks nice too.

Nice blue only mode for calibrating.

Oh .. and your welcome. Finally we can lay this to rest. ;)

I am still getting question about this so I will answer in this thread:

Are there project settings for 23.98?
1 Yes there are project settings for 23.98

What LCD Monitor do you use with hdstorm?
                          I use a samsung 1080p
                          Model code: LN37A550P3FXZA
                          Model Number: LN37A550P3 FA
The samsung does not display SD over HDMI

What HDMI cable did you use , will a 1.3 a cable work?
I used a 1.3 spec HDMI cable but the board is 1.1 (I think). I only used the 1.3 cable because that is available locally.
I guess all the higher spec cables will work as they are backwards compatible.

Does the Hdstorm output true progressive?

Yes it does if your monitor which is hooked up via HDMI supports it for the given resolution

                          edit:
Does the Hdstorm work in the same machine with a nxboard?
Yes it does. I run both boards in a mac pro.
The boards are installed as follows:
                          GPU
                          HDstorm
                          NX
                          Expansion board (component out)

Did you test the HDstorm bay?

No I don't have one yet.

PS Please ask further questions in this thread not via email. Thanks.:)

You are correct about the HDMI versioning of the HDSTORM hardware - it is 1.1.
