  • Stuttering problems but not on every project

I have been editing two different weddings using my SD cards transfered to the hard drive from my Sony V5U. The first plays great no problems even with 5 streams of video at once. The second stutters and stops and won't let me edit without lots of waiting. Is there a way I can change the second file's frame rate and frame size to match the first one? Not even sure why the two projects have different frame sizes and frame rates because I thought I did the same thing each time.
See below for the info on each of the two projects.

The first one is interlaced, the second is progressive. I am not sure if it makes a difference here.

There might be errors in your 2nd project footage. Usually, for SD projects, CPU and hardware will be adequate - unless your PC is really old.

Can you post a sample of the 2nd project video for us to take a look?

The point is - what format did you shoot with, are both sets of source material 1440x1080 29.97 ? I would guess so.

If this is the case, open the second project, open project settings, select HDV ( 29.97 ) and OK. This will change your project parameters to be the same as the first one.

Assuming the source material has the same characteristics in both projects, they should perform identically.

The secomd project looks like a Dvcpro hd preset. So edius is converting you 1440 x1080 i to 1280 x 720p

Why should a Sony V5U output a DVCProHD file for?

Created a new project with same footage but made sure when beginning the project I matched everything to my first project that worked. Now everything works fine. Not sure why I can't switch back and forth.
