  • Trial Version of Edius 4.5 somewhere?

    Hey Folks..

i do need to install the trial version of Edius 4.5 to a freinds pc..he is thinking about getting it, but wants to play around with a project we started on my computer (with broadcast and dongle..).

However, it must be the trial version including Broadcast/P2-support..!
As we want to demonstrate how to swap projects from mine to his PC we need the Version 4 and cant work with the trial of version 5 as i am still working on a big project and still cant make the move to Edius 5..!

Anybody here with a solution to donwload the trial of 4.5 somewhere..GV-folks..?

    Thanks a lot..!

Sorry, cannot help you there. Perhaps someone has an old trial disc they can send you.

I see though, from your sig that you are using 4.51c - it will be tricky to get exactly that version as a trial, to ensure compatibility with your full copy.

      Hmm..i see..but i guess if i get a 4.5 trial, it should work fine..!

      Anybody else here?
I guess 4.6 with P2/Broadcast would make it too..!

Just install your version up to 4.51c. He can use it for 30 days.

I believe that won't entirely solve the problem. From memory, if you install a retail EDIUS 4.x copy onto a system, you will indeed get 30 days of free use, but the Broadcast-specific components are flat out unavailable/unsupported.

          That's the key difference between a dongle-free retail 4.x and a 30-day trial 4.x..

(in either instance, though, it should be noted that VariCam and VariCam-related presets won't work at all without a dongle)

KH is absolutely correct. In my EDIUS 4.61, if I remove the broadcast dongle, ALL the broadcast related items disappear from the menu.

There are TWO dongles here - one for EDIUS 4.61 and a second for broadcast stuff.

You cannot do the P2 ACCESS and stuff like that without the broadcast dongle in the computer.

I don't think there is such a thing as "broadcast" trial version. Since to activate broadcast modules requires the use of a dongle ....

The trial versions for 4.x were Broadcast-based. There'd be no point praising the wonders of our P2/XDCAM workflows, if no one could play with the formats first..
