Since upgrading my notherboard BIOS I find that the AVCHD converter operates quickly enough. Strangely if I try to invoke all 4 cores it freezes. Unticked however its fine,

Right now, I am only testing Cineform's Neo scene - I converted one test AVCHD video into Cineform codec and tested it on my EDIUS 5.01. I didn't experience any issues so far. Perhaps - because Neo has just been released, there might be some bugs for them to iron out ... so, by the time I am ready to purchase my "b" camera - HMC152 (a couple of months down the road) - most of the bugs will be gone.
The good thing about Cineform codec - it is 10 bits, 4.2.2 colour space. Native AVCHD is 8 bits, 4.2.0 colour space - and once you start doing colour gradings, and stuff like that, in 8 bits 420 space - you can definitely see the limitations.
Of course, the source is still 8 bits, 420 - so, I do recognise the limits of converting that to 10 bits, 422 space.TingSern
