on an XDCAM disk, all clip files are in the same folder, I simply copy and paste to Edius project folder
in fact, it is faster and simpler that using the cumbersome Sony software
I'm running version 2.00 (released July 2008), which I think is a big improvement over the original version that shipped with my EX1. And it allows thumbnail and clip preview which saves me importing clips I don't want. And with the dual preview windows I can preview thumbnails from the SxS cards or on my HDD's simultaneously from within the one program, and also copy from the SxS to my HDD's and/or directly into my Edius Bin.Intel Quad Core Extreme 3GHz/12M, 4Gb RAM, 2Tb Hot-swap (ARAID), NVIDIA GeoForce 8800 GTS, Edius Broadcast 4.61 / Edius 5.5, Procoder 3, DVDit Pro HD, Sonicfire Pro 5, Mercalli, Vitascene, Adorage. I don't need to see proxy clips because I need everything I shoot, that is why I shoot it in the first place :)Anton Strauss

The most common codec used with MP4 IS h.264 and hence the confusion.
BUT that doesnt mean another codecs cant be used inside MP4 and indeed SONY EX use MPEG2 inside MP4.
This is why other NLE's which can't unwrap MP4 files can read EX1 MPEG2 files once they have a nice new shiny MXF wrapper.
Who said going digital will make things easier!!! Pah!
