ADVC-55 clarification from Canopus

I think that the post about problems of the ADVC-55 during the capture of tape VHS or Hi8 are to many for a coincidence.
It seam that ADVC-55 unit have big problem to capture correctly analog signal
Canopus/GV doesn't tell customer nothing about that but I think now we need an explanation.
ADVC-55 is OK to capture VHS or Hi8 tape without any other device ?
Is it possible to use it with Premiere or other movie editors SW ?
ADVC-55 can work correctly with the only power of the IEEE1394 ?
ADVC-55 can work correctly with Windows Vista x64 ?
I think is a good way to clarify all.
My ADVC-55 is now in RMA state but i don't want to have another ADVC-55 with the same problems

1. ADVC55 will capture from Hi8 and VHS provided that the source image is free from major analog signal deterioration. Typically, the purpose of A-to-D conversion is to preserve footage shot and recorded on very old equipment. Such recording media and playback equipment can suffer from all kinds of degradation (oxidization, temperature, being stored flat). ADVC55 cannot fix these issues.

2. ADVC works with any software that accepts IEEE 1394 OHCI FireWire input. Even Mac applications.

3. ADVC will work with any powered 6-pin IEEE 1394 interface. If the port is insufficiently powered (some notebooks, and PCI cards that don't have an additional 5V connector from the power supply), ADVC55 will require an external power supply for adequate power.

4. ADVC55 is not certified for Vista x64 - it's entirely up to the owner if they want to use this operating system. Given ADVC's driver-free construction, it relies on the OS for having the necessary, functional AVC device driver (and compatible OHCI-based video software)

Now, Luca, this is the last time I want to hear you ranting on your RMA issue. If you continue to hijack other threads without constructive, useful input, then we will have no choice but to look at issuing a temporary ban. I'd prefer we not have it come to that.

Yes. However, if the signal is particularly bad and video sync cannot be maintained, you may run into trouble. At these times it would be useful to run the video through a time-base corrector (TBC).

Yes.
The ADVC55 appears the same as a connected DV camera/deck.

ADVC-55 can work correctly with the only power of the IEEE1394 ?
Yes, as long as the 1394 bus provides adequate power.
Most laptops, even if they have 6-pin Firewire connectors, do not supply Firewire bus power.
Some motherboards with built-in Firewire also do not supply adequate Firewire bus power, or require a connection from the power supply to the motherboard.
Likewise, Firewire add-in cards sometimes requires a dedicated power supply connection to provide adequate Firewire bus power.

ADVC-55 can work correctly with Windows Vista x64 ?
As it appears as a standard DV camera/deck, it should work fine in Vista x64 as long as it supports DV devices.
