  • Using the ADVC300 to capture PAL video

    Greetings,
I'm about to start a project that includes capturing video that is PAL.
I already own a ADVC300, and I'm considering the purchase of a Sharp VCA-50 deck, which is multi-standard.
This deck outputs the PAL material as PAL.
So, my question is, will I be able to use the ADVC300 as the converter to capture the video with Final Cut Pro.
If so, do I only need to change the DIP switches to the PAL setting?
Is there any other hardware I'd need?

The ADVC300 is format-agnostic, as long as the DIP switch is set correctly for the format you are capturing, it will work with either PAL or NTSC.

Just keep in mind that the unit doesn't transcode video standards.

ie. it will go PAL-to-PAL and NTSC-to-NTSC, but not PAL-to-NTSC, etc.
