  • The Canopus NEO that comes with the ADVC-300 is only Trial?

I am disappointed to see that that editing software that comes with the ADVC-300 is only a trial version. How does GV Thomson expect the user to fully utilize the ADVC-300 when the software will expire in 30 days?

Canopus doesn't advertise that the trial version comes with the ADVC-300, so what did you base your purchasing decision on?

You can already fully utilitize your ADVC300 using the included Picture Controller application and any capture application (there are a number of free capture apps available if you don't already have one).

Remember the purpose of the ADVC300 is to provide a DV stream which you can capture to your computer, in other words to do the same thing that you would get if you plugged a consumer DV camera into your computer. Would you expect a sophisticated video editor application to be included with a DV camera?

I for one would not want the price of the ADVC300 bumped up by included software when I already have a video editor on my computer. Nor would I want to be forced into using a particular vendor's video editor. But a trial version gives me the opportunity to try it.

      Ken.

        Advc 300

But for the price of the unit that has about $40 worth of electrical parts in it, I would expect some software with it that didn't expire after 30day!

EDIUS Neo is not required to use the ADVC-300 to its fullest. The OHCI nature of the whole ADVC product line makes them compatible with ANY video editing program on practically any computer platform and operating system.

We simply include a trial version of EDIUS Neo as it is the entry-level version of our editing software, and EDIUS isn't as well known as our converters.

So what other capture devices come bundled with a fully functional NLE that handles mixed format editing, SD/HD, AVCHD, and DVD burning?

Time to let this thread go.

Some of our ADVC products ship with a trial version of EDIUS Neo for exposure, not functionality.
