invalid argument was specified

just got advc-300. installed software,hooked up vcr,turned on tape through sony vegas and I get in a Sony Video Capture box( "An error occurred while capturing from the device. An invalid argument was specified"). I'm new to this and I didn't touch the din switches. Any help?

Not entirely sure. To check whether the ADVC is working, WinDV is a simple no-frills capture/output program you can use. It's good for testing - and general use too. In fact, I just did a capture from VHS using WinDV last night.

Does the Picture Controller program that came with the ADVC300 work?
