It has to do with the TBC functionality and the audio clocking.

But if you prefer a simpler analogy... Photoshop Elements has one-click Red-eye Reduction. Photoshop, on the other hand...

Thanks BA. So it's not enough to just connect an rca video cable, you need to run a signal through it as well (even if it's just a blue screen)?

In order to capture audio only, you will need to connect the video cable to the ADVC-300 unit as well.

Here is what you need to do:

    01. Connect the audio source to the Input of the ADVC-300.
    02. Connect the video cable from a video source (VCR or Camera) to the Input of the ADVC-300.
    03. Turn the VCR or Camera On to get the blue video screen.
    04. Turn the ADVC-300 ON.
    05. Open your video editing software, and capture your source as a Video containing the audio.
    06. Trim the video until you are satisfied.
    07. Export your captured video as Audio only.

The result is an audio file that you can burn to a CD from your CD burning application.

Correct. Give it a dummy signal.

The ADVC-300 does not have the ability to perform an audio-only conversion; only the ADVC-110 can do that.

Where do I find the documentation to do this? I've been using the Canopus successfully for digital video conversion with my MacBook (iMovie) and can't figure out how to perform an audio only conversion. Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction.
