  • Advc 700 Ntsc Or Pal?

CAN THE ADVC 700 UNIT BE used with NTSC or PAL or do you need two different units?

Could you import a PAL singal via BNC and out put NTSC via BNC?

MMM that's what I need. can any one help with this?'

    Where can I buy this?

    Thanks
    Jeff

Most of the ADVC devices can be used in either an NTSC environment, or a PAL environment--the change is made through the panel of DIP switches on the back or bottom of those devices. You wouldn't need 2 devices. The ADVC will come pre-set to whichever standard depending on where it is purchased.

However, ADVCs only perform NTSC-to-NTSC conversion, and PAL-to-PAL conversion, not NTSC-to-PAL or PAL-to-NTSC. We do not make any hardware that performs that function.

Well, to be accurate, our ADVC line from Japan doesn't have this feature. Grass Valley do have a range of converters that do this, but they are high-end products for broadcast and transmission. :)

        PAL to NTSC

So you do sell hardware that will convert a signal from PAL to NTSC?

        Thanks

I keep forgetting that "we" encompasses more than the Canopus products now.

          Doh!

I believe something exists in the Grass Valley Modular Products category...but that's about the extent of my knowledge. You may want to peruse the www.grassvalley.com web site. But as I said, the products are more aimed at integrated systems for broadcast/transmission. e.g. receiving a PAL satellite signal and processing to NTSC for domestic rebroadcast.

            They won't be cheap.

There are no commercially available hardware converters made by the formerly-Canopus developers for Thomson Grass Valley's professional editing product lines, the products you now find on www.canopus.com.
You could use our ProCoder software to convert between PAL and NTSC, but this is for file-based sources only--it will not accept a stream of any kind for conversion, and does not work in conjunction with any hardware.

Though Grass Valley has an extensive modular and transmitter product line, I seriously doubt it would be affordable for the average consumer as those products are intended for high-end broadcast. You may want to check out www.thomsongrassvalley.com and look through their "products" links and see what you get.
