I just got myself a ADVC-300 converter. I wish to use it with two different computers. I want a 2nd firewire cable so I don't have to pull it out from the back of my computer every time I'm switching computer. But in the user manual for my ADVC-300 it says:
BE SURE TO USE THE ATTACHED DV (FIREWIRE) CABLE
If at all possible, please use the included DV (Firewire) cable. Use of other cables may cause a transmission error. In the worst case, the ADVC-300 or other connected equipment may be damaged internally due to faulty cable wiring.
So what's so special with the included firewire cable?
Why can't I just use a regular firewire cable?
What kind of cable do I need to get a cable for my 2nd computer, and where can I buy it?
