  • Advc 110

Just bought a ADVC 110 for my G5/FCP 3 system. I was told that I didn't need a power supply. I had been using a DV DAC100 until that motherboard went bad.

Anyway.. the G5 won't recognize that the Canopus is pulled in anywhere. Not on the firewire bus, not in IMovie and not in FCP. I can get it to switch over the Analog input which is what I am using. And, I did flip that one dip switch to indicate that I want it always to start with the analog setting. However the status light never comes on.

I tried it in my Windows XP machine but Movie Maker doesn't recognize it either. In fact, on my Windows machine both the digital and analog lights stay on but the status light doesn't come on.

I am inclined to think the box is broken from the outset. However, I know from my experience with the DAC100 that my G5 wanted to converter powered on before I turned it on.

    Any help would be great.

I'm with you on the idea that the unit is DOA - can you arrange for an instant swapover with your reseller?

Perhaps there's some kind of setting for DV on the Mac side to switch between NTSC and PAL?

Pls, what do you refer as DOA. I'm a beginner.

          Thx - Runsman

DOA typically means "Dead on Arrival"
