Default Moving a project

Is there a easy way to move a project and all the associated files to a new drive?

If you have all of your project in a single project folder, source clips and EDIUS files, just COPY the folder and PASTE it where you want it. If you have files scattered around your system, it's a bit more complicated.

yes ... that is easiest and fastest way :-)
All my projects on main HD and an external drive for backup.
I can put the external drive on other system and ready to edit.

It's more complicated.... I was hoping I could open the project and save into a new drive and by some bit of magic I could get all the files assocated with that project to transfer to the drive. But It sounds like that is not possible.

You probably till can. I can give you 3 ways. None are elegant solutions but it can be done.

If you reelect the files like you were reimporting them to your project, you can check the Transfer to a Project Folder and they will be. Copied there. Then you can copy the entire Project folder as mentioned.

Select all of the files in the Bin, Right Click and select Convert>Batch. Then direct them to the new folder/drive location.

Take your chances with Consolidate

There is an easy way to do this.

Go to the bin search
Category Exists in Project folder

Type
No

Go to the search folder.
All the clips which are not in the project folder will be in it.

Now shift select them right click and select transfer to project folder.

Done.

This can be done in from EDIUS 6 IIRC

Steve,
It looks like it is working, but does it rename the clips?

An easy way to test it is export a file called test to a place on you c drive.
Put test on the timeline.

Then use transfer to project folder (from the bin). This way you'll see exactly what the function does.

But to give you it short yes it will rename the files on disk (the copy) but will keep the orginal file name in the bin.

(At least in EDIUS 6.5)

Transfer to project folder does not do anything to your project bins .
What missing files?
