Default Simple Centre Soft focus without 3rd party filters.

Hi all, I am rather new to the forum and I have been searching high and low to find a relatively simple way with out 3rd party filters to create a soft centre focus.. IE: the center circle is in focus and a feathered edge shows the background out of foucs?

I can achieve this simply with Premiere, but have tried several ways in edius 6 and had no luck.. Come close with the mask, but not there..

I am sure someone with more experience would know how to achieve this. I would love to know..

Thank you.
Tony

Sorry excuse me being so nieve, but it doesnt seem to give me the desired effect. I am applying the mask to the clip. Creating an Elipse. Using the Outside filter with the softblur filter added. However, the Edge, at any setting, doesnt do anything and I cant seem to work out how to feather, but it also looks like I need to do an inverse, as the center is out of focus rather that the outer?

Draw your ellipse
check the box for Outside filter
add your smooth blur filter and adjust blur settings
check the box for Soft under Edge
choose Outside, inside or both for Side (experiment)
adjust width to soften the edge.

The preview window doesn't show it very well, you need to look on your edit monitor and you will see your soft edge blends very well.

It sounds like you are checking Inside Filter instead of Outside. And yes, be sure you are viewing the changes in the recorder monitor if you hit the Play button.

I think you are not setting it up correctly. Look at my screen grab done in 5 seconds.

inside nothing
outside blur adjust to liking

Edge soft set "both" then type in 250 for with and the play with until you like it. I had mine set at 340 px

I have added a preset you can play with. unzip and import it . (effects pallet)
