Default transparent background black?

since edius has no masking tools or garbage matte tools (i would love for that in edius in a future version) i used boris red to mask out a quick part in a video. i masked out a part and the things not masked should be transparent..and it has the checkerboard pattern and such. so in edius i place a track under it and the transparent areas are black still...not transparent. how to solve this??? i cant add chromakey! i would put another track under withing boris but putting a track in edius is more convenient

i also dont want to add the video track within boris because i only want to use edius plugins for the specified area.

Yes it does, just make your black & white mask in photoshop or whatever you have and on the timeline, drag an alpha mask filter to the top clip, double click the property tab and load in your mask and keyframe it and it will work.

Only a few clicks, how can it be a hastle? but if your clip that you mask out in Boris has alpha channel then you can also in the bin highlight it and your lower track clip and right mouse it and convert.

yes...to create a mask in photoshop would be sophisticated for a complex scene and doing it for each frame. i found a faster way....i just add the overlay of composite of "Lighter" to it..from there it works like a charm. thanks anyways. well i answered my own question..would you look at that....
