I expected mirrored ssd's would have performed better than single drives. I guess I was wrong. Is the Marvell controller the bottleneck here? I tried swapping the Marvell sata 3 SE9172 to SE9220 to see if that was the bottleneck but I received nearly equal results. Also is the intel and Marvell software or hardware controllers?
Are 5 drives of caviar blacks in raid 10 better in read and writes?

Hi folks, I've had a look through the forums and can't seem to find anyone silly enough as me to be in this position, but I do apologize if this question has been answered before.

I've managed to lose my Edius 5 install disc/bonus disc that the Izotope VST plugins and Vercalli/New blue stuff came with. I've been able to recover the Edius install via my account on the website here and with some help from the support contact here in Australia. They mentioned that the VST and other plugins should also be right to be downloaded via this website but I can't find them anywhere... Is there anyone that might be able to point me in the direction of the Izotope VST plugs?

Many thanks in advance

Hello,

I have an NX system and have always noticed a certain behavior when using Layouter. I would like to ask the people 'in the know' if what I am seeing is a function of the NX card or a software function of the layouter.

If I move the image in the "Y" direction, Layouter gives you very precise amounts to move. If one looks close, there is a distance where every so often where the image is sharpest. Keep adjusting and it will slightly softer until the next sharp area is reached.

I am using progressive footage but is this related to the NX's interlaced background? Maybe my JVC HD editing monitor?

I would not think any position would be any different in a progressive world.

One last question, do HDMI output card people see this?

Thanks.

When I had Edius 4 on my laptop, it could edit hdv with ease. Then when I upgraded to E5, my system seemed to bog down a little, because E5 uses more system resources. My question... if I installed E6, will it use even more resources than E5? Or is E6 more efficient at utilizing resources? Did you notice a backward jump in realtime performance between 5 and 6?

When I edit muticam, I set markers at places I know I will want a dissolve since you can't dissolve during multicam editing because the two clips are on separate tracks and you do the transitions after compressing to a single track.

After I compress, I go to my sequence marker window and have to double click each marker and click ALT-1 to place a dissolve. There can be MANY of these. Is there a way to select all markers in the list and have Edius place transitions on all the marker times at once?

p.s. Actually, I made an autohotkey script that does this automatically for me but it still takes time for it to go through all the marker times.

In Adobe PP, you can have the timeline continue playing while you adjust the Windows OS audio levels. If you try to do this in EDIUS, Edius will lose focus and stop playing. Why is this? I'm just asking because it takes about 7 seconds for Edius to get back it's focus (on large projects) and that's annoying. All other NLE's get back focus in a split second... as soon as you click on it again.

Although I never had complaints by clients about audio, I always wondered about this...

Volume levels are to easy to determine, since you can see the peak levels. So it's easy to make sure that your whole DVD has a uniformed volume level so the client won't have to keep raising and lowering the audio volume during playback.

But what about all other aspects of audio like bass, treble, high pass, low pass... all these can deceive you if your computer levels are not set right. I have a 3 set speaker system so when not working with headsets, I can raise or lower the bass on the speakers. Now to me, it might sound like I need more bass in my audio and I'll add bass with an EQ, but in reality, it might have just been that my own speakers were set too low on bass and now the client will hear TOO much bass.

See what I'm getting at? Maybe one boosted the bass in the Windows audio settings and now he hears too much bass (even with headsets) and lowers it in Edius but in reality he didn't have to do this and the client will get bass too low.

We have the same problem with color correction (client TV\Screen shows different colors) and that's why we use a third monitor display, so we can see the actual colors of a TV while editing. But how do we determine a base-line for audio specs? How can we know if we really have audio tweaking to do or our speakers\system is just not set right?
